1. Who these Terms are with
These Terms of Service are a contract between you and Trevis Alexander, an independent solo developer operating Nowsal from Sabadell, Barcelona, Spain. They govern your use of nowsal.com and the Nowsal service.
Nowsal is a website. nowsal.com is the product; there is no mobile app at this time. Nowsal is an early-stage project and is not operated through a registered company. If that changes, these Terms will be updated to name the new provider before the change takes effect.
Why Nowsal exists: Nowsal is built for Christians seeking a serious relationship through real conversation, rather than through endless profiles, monetised attention, or paid visibility.

2. What is running today
Nowsal is early, and this section says plainly what you can actually do right now.
Live today: creating an account, the declarations you make at the account door, and a test video call between two people who both have accounts.
Built but not open: the questionnaire, the profile, identity verification, matching, introductions, and the paid Search period.
Not built: payment. No payment processor is connected and nothing can be bought. Section 7 describes the paid product as it has been ruled, so that you know what is coming before it arrives.
3. Eligibility
You must be 18 or older to use Nowsal.
You make a timestamped declaration that you are 18 or over when you create your account, and you must complete identity and age verification before you can be introduced to anyone. A verification may come back approved, retryable, in need of review, or ineligible.
You must give information that is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and use Nowsal to genuinely look for a relationship. Materially misrepresenting your identity, age, faith, or intentions may lead to restriction or termination.
4. What Nowsal is
Nowsal is a dating service for Christian adults whose faith matters seriously to the relationship they want.
Members answer a structured questionnaire, set their own boundaries, build a profile, receive a curated list of candidates, and may request a one-on-one video call with someone on that list.
The questionnaire includes the CRS-10, a published academic measure of the centrality of religiosity, alongside Nowsal's own questions about tradition, relationship direction and the life you want together. Nowsal does not claim that the CRS-10 or any Nowsal question predicts romantic compatibility, relationship success, or marriage.
Nowsal does not turn your answers into a number. There is no compatibility score and no percentage: not shown to you, not shown to anyone else, and not calculated behind the scenes. Answers are used to find honest common ground within the boundaries both people set.
Nowsal serves Christian members, and can support introductions within or across Christian traditions only where both people's own stated boundaries allow it.
No pay-to-match. Money buys continued searching. It never buys ranking, visibility, attention, access to a particular person, or any advantage over another member. See section 7.
5. Your account
Sign-in uses Google and Apple through Nowsal's authentication provider. Other methods may be added later.
One person may keep one active Nowsal identity. You may not impersonate anyone, create accounts for other people without their permission, or create accounts to get around safety, verification or enforcement measures.
Unfinished onboarding is cleared after 14 consecutive days of inactivity. The sign-in shell, the minimum consent record and necessary security information may remain, while in-progress tradition, questionnaire, profile and media data is deleted. Returning after that means starting the questionnaire again rather than resuming fragments.
Dormancy. After 12 consecutive months without you signing in and using the service, Nowsal sends you a notice and allows 30 days to come back and keep the account. Without a return, the account goes through ordinary deletion. Background refreshes and automated jobs do not count as activity.
Pausing, exiting and deleting are three different things, and Nowsal will not blur them:
- Pause Search stops new introductions. Your account and your existing connections remain.
- Successful Exit is for leaving because you have met someone.
- Delete account removes your Nowsal account. It is a separate, destructive action.
Uninstalling, signing out, or simply stopping is never deletion. Deletion is available from within the service without having to negotiate with support, and cannot be blocked by an active paid Search period. Where you have unused paid time, Nowsal will show you what deleting costs you and offer to pause instead or to delete when the paid period ends, but deleting immediately always remains available.
Returning. Before you can search again you may be asked to verify once more: after 12 months or more away, where your last verification is 24 months or older, after a serious account-security signal, where verification requirements have changed, or where a safety review requires it. Ordinary pauses, an expired Search period, or editing your boundaries do not by themselves require reverification, and an existing connection normally stays available while a routine reverification gate applies only to new searching.
6. How matching and calls work
Your curated list
Nowsal shows a curated list of candidates who meet the relevant eligibility and boundary rules. It is not a deck of faces to flick through, and Nowsal does not pad the list to make it look fuller than it is.
A candidate's profile may include one photo, the answers that person has permitted to be shown, and an optional short introduction video.
Depth and completeness of your answers may affect the order in which eligible candidates appear. They never buy you more candidates.
If nobody currently meets your boundaries, Nowsal will say so rather than quietly relaxing them to manufacture a weaker introduction.
Requesting a call
You may request a one-on-one video call with someone on your list. You have one outstanding request at a time, so that a request means something to the person receiving it. A call happens only after both people agree.
The first call
For a newly matched pair, Nowsal helps both people settle on a time that genuinely suits them both, and asks each to confirm it. Commitment is shown by turning up, not by being made to rearrange your evening.
After a call
After every call, each person answers privately whether they want to continue. The question is always asked, so that nobody is left wondering.
- Both yes: messaging and further one-on-one video become available between you two, on your own terms and without an assigned time.
- Either no: the pair is removed from each other's list. Neither person is told who said no, and a mutual no is indistinguishable from a one-sided one.
Ordinary inactivity alone does not end a candidate or a connection while both accounts stay active and eligible. One may still end through an explicit no, a block, account deletion, safety separation, an enforcement action, or another legitimate change of account state.
Limits on call time, stated up front
Two limits apply to calls, and they are written here rather than left for you to discover:
- An idle timeout. After roughly ten minutes with no sound from either side, a visible prompt asks whether you are still there; if neither of you answers shortly after, the call ends. Nothing happens silently.
- A monthly ceiling on total call time, with a smaller one for video. These bound deliberate abuse and are set high enough that ordinary courtship does not reach them. Crossing the video allowance changes the next call, which opens as audio; a call in progress is never cut, interrupted, or quietly reduced in quality, and audio and messaging remain open at all times. Reaching a ceiling starts a conversation with a person, not an automatic shut-off. Call volume is never used for matching, ordering, or reputation.
7. The Search period, and what money buys
Nowsal has a free path. You can complete onboarding and experience a real introduction before you are asked to pay for anything.
The paid product is one 30-day Nowsal Search period at €24.99, including VAT where it applies.
- It does not renew by itself. When a period ends, it ends. You buy another only if and when you decide to.
- There is no weekly, three-month or annual term, and no day pass.
- There is nothing else to buy: no boosts, no consumables, no visibility purchases, no call passes.
What a Search period buys: continued matching, introductions, requests, scheduling, first calls, safety and the infrastructure behind them, while you are eligible and Nowsal can meaningfully search for you.
What it never buys: better ranking, more visibility, more attention, more simultaneous requests, access to a particular person, disclosure of who has quietly shown interest, or stronger matching boundaries than anyone else's.
Existing connections survive expiry. Once you and another person have an established connection, that connection stays available after your Search period ends. Messaging and calls between you two are not paywalled because a clock ran out. You pay Nowsal to keep searching. You never pay Nowsal to keep someone you already found.
Payment is private. No badge appears on your profile. Whether you have paid is never a filter, a ranking input, or a signal to another member.
Nowsal only sells Search when it has a search to perform. Where Nowsal already knows there is not enough for you to act on, it should not press you to buy a period.
Before you buy
When payment becomes available, before you are charged, Nowsal will show you the main characteristics of the Search period, the total price including taxes, the duration, and the fact that it does not renew. The button that completes the purchase will say plainly that it creates an obligation to pay.
Your right to withdraw
As a consumer in the EU you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract without giving a reason.
Nowsal's Search period is digital content supplied immediately. At checkout you will be asked to expressly request that it start straight away and to acknowledge that doing so ends your right of withdrawal once it has been fully supplied. If you do not agree to that, the period simply starts after the 14 days instead. Nowsal will not begin supply before you have made that choice, and will confirm the contract and your choice to you on a durable medium.
None of this affects your statutory rights where the service is faulty or not as described.
Cancelling
There is nothing to cancel, because nothing renews. There is no cancellation trap, no retention flow designed to wear you down, and no requirement to contact support to stop paying.
Payment processor
No payment processor is connected yet and nothing can currently be bought. The processor will be named in the Privacy Policy and here before any purchase is possible.
8. Conduct
Treat other members with dignity, and use Nowsal to genuinely look for a relationship.
You may not use Nowsal to:
- give materially false information about your identity, age, faith or relationship intentions;
- harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate or abuse anyone;
- commit fraud, run a romance scam, or manipulate someone into sending money;
- impersonate another person;
- evade identity verification, a block, a suspension or a termination;
- create duplicate accounts to get around enforcement;
- publish another member's private messages, images or personal information without permission;
- secretly record or redistribute a private call in a way that breaches another person's rights or the law;
- collect data automatically from, reverse engineer, disrupt, probe or otherwise misuse the service, except where the law expressly permits it;
- distribute malware, malicious links, spam or unlawful content; or
- use Nowsal for anything unlawful.
Depending on the circumstances, a violation may lead to a warning, a feature restriction, a safety separation, a suspension, or termination.
9. Faith data and the questionnaire
Religious-belief information receives special protection under the Privacy Policy and is processed under the permissions described there, on the basis of your explicit consent, recorded separately from your acceptance of these Terms.
The CRS-10 and Nowsal's own questions help Nowsal understand religious centrality, relationship direction, boundaries and common ground. They are not a moral measure and are not a verdict on whether two people belong together.
CRS-10 item texts are a third-party academic instrument by Huber and Huber, used verbatim with attribution under the applicable source licence. A translated version is used only where Nowsal has confirmed the licence for that translation.
10. Your profile content
You keep ownership of the photos, video, text and answers you submit, subject to anyone else's rights.
You grant Nowsal a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce, technically adapt, transmit and display that content only as reasonably necessary to operate Nowsal: showing your profile to eligible candidates, delivering calls and messages, securing the service, and carrying out moderation.
This licence does not let Nowsal sell your content or use it for unrelated advertising. It ends when the content or the account is deleted, subject to the limited technical, legal, safety and dispute-related retention described in the Privacy Policy.
You must hold the rights to whatever you upload.
11. Calls, messages and member privacy
Nowsal uses third-party realtime infrastructure to connect one-on-one audio and video. Nowsal does not record member-to-member calls, and recording is disabled at the infrastructure level rather than merely switched off in the interface. Technical connection information is processed to make the call work, diagnose failures and protect the service.
Your private after-call answer is never revealed to the other person. Only the mutual outcome is shown.
No technology can stop another person using a device screenshot, a screen recording, or a second camera. Do not share anything during a call that you would not be willing to disclose directly to that person.
12. Reports, blocking, moderation and appeals
Nowsal provides reporting and blocking tools and may act on credible safety, fraud, verification or conduct concerns.
A block or a safety separation may take effect immediately, so that two accounts can no longer be introduced, even while a report is still being looked at.
Nowsal may use automated signals to surface possible safety, identity, fraud or technical problems. Where a contested decision needs judgment, Nowsal aims to have a person review the relevant information before a final enforcement outcome, where that is reasonably possible.
Notice may be limited or delayed where giving it would compromise someone else's privacy or safety, or an active investigation.
To ask for a review of a restriction or a moderation decision, write to hello@nowsal.com. Nowsal is run by one person, so replies may take time, but appeals are read and considered.
13. Identity verification
Before you can be introduced to anyone, you must complete identity and age verification.
You are shown one verification step. Behind it, a specialist provider checks a government-issued identity document, takes a passive liveness selfie, compares that selfie to the portrait on the document, confirms minimum age, and runs duplicate-identity and fraud checks. There is no guided head-turn or on-screen challenge.
Passing means you met Nowsal's identity and age requirements at that moment. It is not a criminal-record check, a character reference, an endorsement, or a guarantee that anything else a member tells you is true.
A technical failure may be retried. Certain age, identity, duplicate-account or fraud outcomes may need review or make an account ineligible.
14. Meeting outside Nowsal
Nowsal helps people meet and talk. It does not supervise private meetings in person.
If you meet another member offline, take sensible precautions and make your own decisions about what to share, where to meet, and whether to continue. Each person remains responsible for their own conduct and choices.
15. Termination and deletion
You may stop using Nowsal and delete your account at any time, as described in section 5.
Nowsal may restrict, suspend or terminate an account for serious or repeated violations of these Terms, safety risk, fraud, identity or age ineligibility, unlawful conduct, or attempts to evade enforcement.
When an account ends, candidate and connection states end with it. Personal data is handled as the Privacy Policy describes.
Deleting an account does not guarantee that the same person may immediately create a new one, where their previous use involved a valid safety, fraud or enforcement restriction.
16. Availability and changes to the service
Nowsal is early and will change as it is built and tested with real members. Features may be improved, added, removed, paused or redesigned for quality, security, safety, legal compliance, technical limits or operating cost.
Nowsal does not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Network problems, maintenance, provider outages, device issues and third-party infrastructure can all affect sign-in, matching, calls or messaging.
Material changes that significantly affect member rights, the use of sensitive information, or the core rules of the service will be communicated before they take effect where that is required.
17. Disclaimers and responsibility
Nowsal makes introductions possible. It cannot promise that you will find a partner, receive a particular number of candidates, have a good call, receive mutual interest, form a relationship, or marry anyone you meet here.
Nowsal verifies identity and age through its verification process. It does not verify character, sincerity, readiness for a relationship, finances, health, criminal history, or future conduct.
The service is provided with the care the law requires. To the extent the law permits, Nowsal is not responsible for losses caused solely by another member's independent conduct, by things outside Nowsal's reasonable control, or by your own misuse of the service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right, remedy, warranty or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under Spanish, EU or other applicable mandatory consumer law.
18. Governing law, complaints and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, subject to the mandatory rights that apply to you where you live.
If you have a complaint, write to hello@nowsal.com first so it can be looked at directly.
The EU Online Dispute Resolution platform has been discontinued and is not used as a complaint route.
Nothing here prevents you from going to a court or authority, or using an alternative dispute-resolution route available to you under mandatory law.
19. Third-party services
Nowsal relies on third parties for sign-in, identity verification, realtime video, hosting, database infrastructure, email and (once it exists) payment. Those services have their own terms and privacy information. Using a third-party sign-in provider is also governed by your own separate relationship with that provider.
20. Changes to these Terms
Nowsal may update these Terms as the service changes. Significant changes affecting your rights or obligations will be communicated before they take effect where that is required. Each published version carries a date, and the version you accepted is recorded with your account.
Continuing to use Nowsal after an updated version takes effect means the updated Terms govern your future use, to the extent the law permits.
